AEGIS — Autonomous Emergency Guidance and Intervention System: Predictive Runway and Terminal-Airspace Collision Prevention; Cooperative AI Coordination and Emergency Override Authority

AEGIS — Autonomous Emergency Guidance and Intervention System Predictive Runway and Terminal-Airspace Collision Prevention; Cooperative AI Coordination and Emergency Override Authority John Swygert November 2, 2026 Abstract This third AEGIS companion paper proposes a unified research architecture for preventing collisions on runways, during taxi and takeoff, in terminal airspace, and during low-altitude aircraft–rotorcraft encounters. Part I addresses predictive detection of conflicting aircraft, vehicles, terrain, and runway occupancy using onboard and airport-surface information. Part II extends the original aircraft-resident AEGIS architecture into a cooperative network in which local AI systems exchange state and intent while a central AEGIS coordination service can issue time-critical, coordinated emergency-control directives to multiple aircraft. Aircraft retain independent onboard protection when external communications are unavailable. Central commands are authenticated, bounde...

AEGIS — Autonomous Emergency Guidance and Intervention System: Telemetry Reconstruction, Counterfactual Flight Testing, and Statistical Optimization of Predictive Accident Prevention

AEGIS — Autonomous Emergency Guidance and Intervention System Telemetry Reconstruction, Counterfactual Flight Testing, and Statistical Optimization of Predictive Accident Prevention John Swygert November 2, 2026 Abstract This companion paper establishes a telemetry-centered evaluation program for AEGIS, the aircraft-resident predictive safety architecture introduced November 1, 2026. The central experiment is to reconstruct real loss-of-control and weather-related accidents using the best available time-aligned evidence, initialize a validated aircraft-and-environment simulation before the first visible emergency, and compare baseline flight outcomes with AEGIS-assisted alternatives. Testing spans preflight hazard recognition, preventive rerouting or altitude selection, deteriorating performance, crew guidance, and bounded recovery. A staged stress-testing process varies icing, turbulence, aircraft configuration, sensor integrity, control effectiveness, crew response, and intervention ...
